Welcome to Vet-IR
Vet-IR is focused on delivering clinical standard physiological imaging, research, training, education and analysis services to veterinary surgeons, practices and the wider academic community. Vet-IR sets industry standards, delivers academic programs, and advances clinical applications across a wide variety of species via research. Infrared Imaging is part of veterinary medicine’s future, Vet-IR delivers clinical quality that Vets can rely on.
Over the coming months we will be launching new educational programs, CPD, research projects and a members area for industry professionals.

SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
To medical professionals, the skin can provide an insight into the diagnosis of systemic diseases, but also enables the monitoring of the health of blood vessels and nerves. The skin is a complex organ with structures that allow blood to be shunted and moved away from the surface layers to the deeper areas of the skin.
CLINICAL APPLICATIONS
Applications of infrared imaging are ever increasing due to more comprehensive investigations following imaging, improved diagnostics, research and results correlation. There are 4 key areas to worth within when using the technology and we have detailed a short synopsis linking you to help case selections.
INFRARED DISSECTION
The electromagnetic (EM) spectrum comprises the entire distribution of electromagnetic radiation according to frequency or wavelength. Electromagnetic waves form a spectrum of different wavelengths divided into sub-ranges, commonly termed portions. These portions include visible light, X-ray, Infrared and ultraviolet radiation among others.
TECH CONSULTANCY
There is a vast array of thermal imaging devices on the market, ranging from low-resolution plug-in devices for your smartphone, to high-end high definition cameras. Choosing the right technology for an application is wrought with issues, but for physiological imaging there are a few specifications that must be met…
IMAGING CONSULTANCY SERVICES
Vet-IR provide quality controlled international imaging services in equine, small animal, exotics, dromedary, zoology and livestock medicine. Services are provided to veterinary practices, Zoos and their clients via our network of imaging consultants. We also train veterinary practices to deliver the service directly to their patients, offering ongoing tech support, CPD and analysis services.

CLINICAL STANDARD IMAGING
Like other forms of diagnostic imaging, the technique requires standardisation to produce accurate and repeatable results. Interpretation and analysis is not largely understood by untrained professionals and requires clinical experience.
Vet-IR’s network of imaging consultants and veterinary surgeons are trained to practice imaging collection and interpretation under strict protocols, forming a quality-controlled system that delivers the veterinary industry with a clinical standard approach to physiological Infrared imaging.
CLINICAL CASE STUDIES
Vet-IR correlates a high numbers of studies with additional diagnostic modalities, clinical examination/ investigation. We are continuously adding to an archive of data that we pool into the Species-IR Atlas Project.
Thank you to all the clinicians and animal owners that consent to sharing this data, improving technology applications and contributing to the improvement of animal welfare standards.
